Mom-Invented Friday - Magnificent Baby
I met Lauren, founder of Magnificent Baby a couple of years ago at the HUGGIES booth at the ABC Kids Expo. It was one of those "WOW, that is GENIUS" moments. She has since become a friend and I am excited to introduce you to her products if you don't already know about them.
Magnificent Baby is a collection of ultra soft baby clothing that will have your little one dressed in seconds.
You know those middle of night feeding and diaper changings that turn into a struggle to put together snaps, to then have to re-do them because you missed a snap. Well you don't have to do that anymore! The Smart Close magnetic fasteners practically close themselves!
I absolutely love the How it Works page on her site! Pop on over and see how it works.
Lauren has also recently become a mommy herself and understands that a smooth delivery begins with a "going in prepared" approach. She was generous enough to put together the best Hospital Packing List to make your hospital stay the best experience you can have.
Thank You Lauren!
Congrats on the newest addition to your family and thank you for your amazing products that make dressing baby a little easier to manage.
**Please visit www.magnificentbaby.com for more on their collection of baby products.

Many of you have started Holiday shopping. A few lucky ones are done! I am neither of those, although the Christmas bug has started to nip, I am waiting for the full effect to take place right after Thanksgiving. I like enjoying one holiday at a time. Christmas being one of my favorites. I LOVE everything about it.
This year I am looking for a few crafty items to make as gifts. My new favorite site as I have mentioned before is Pinterest Mom. Great Ideas!

I will be saving this one for a snowy day this December
Wonder if I can somehow transfer the kids baby footprints for this one
My favorite! I love hearing the kids remember who gave them which gift. Now it will be saved as an ornament.

Mom-Invented Friday...I have an idea..Now what?
You have an idea...Now what? I get asked this question quite often.
Having no background in business or bringing a product to market, I had no idea what came next.
My daughter was born in July of 2009, by the end of October I was juggling with a coat, car seat and diaper bag while running my errands. My "a-ha" moment came during one of those crazy trips where I was down to 4 items, each fitting into the pockets of my jeans. I thought "I need to get a bag that attaches to the car seat so I can carry my wallet, keys and bottle for the baby".
I popped onto the internet but wasn't able to find anything that would fit my needs, so my next step was to dust off my sewing machine and make myself a bag that I attached onto the car seat.
It was not the best looking thing, but it had potential. While looking at this bag, I realized that maybe...just maybe if I had this problem, then other parents might be going through the same issue.
And so began my roller coaster journey into becoming a mompreneur and bringing the SeatPak to market.
Here we are, back to...I have an idea...Now what?
I would advise to begin on the internet. Research to see if your "idea" is already on the market. If it is not then you will have to decide if this is something you are passionate enough to want to make into a reality. It will be a tough road, we live in a world where we need to see quick results, bringing a product to market is not a place where you will want to rush.
If your "idea" is already on the market don't get discouraged. I had a few ideas after the birth of my son in 2004, one of which I did nothing about and saw on the market a few years later. It took me a few more years before "the one" came along.
Perhaps your "idea" is of something that is already on the market but you are improving on it somehow.
Whatever it is. Are you willing to put in the hard work to bring your "idea" to market. If the answer is yes then your next step will be to protect your work before moving forward.
Stay tuned. Next week...How to protect my invention

MomInvented Friday - BARE® air-free baby bottle
MomInvented Friday is all about introducing you to a mom-invented product. Ones that will make your parenting life easier, they are simple and functional.
If you are planning to bottle feed this bottle is one to consider adding to your registry.
The BARE® air-free baby bottle was designed and created by a breastfeeding mom that closely experienced the screaming and endless gas/colic pains from her baby when she introduced baby bottles due to a low milk supply. Nipple confusion was not a myth for Priska Diaz after her baby learned to prefer the bottle over her breast, thus leading to a 100% bottle fed baby without even getting a chance for her milk to come in. As a result of her frustration, Priska developed a baby bottle which incorporates technology that works like a syringe.
The BARE® air-free baby bottle dispenses air-free milk to your baby and effectively minimizes air ingestion that causes gas and colic. A Perfe-latch® nipple is designed to stretch in length during feeding – just like a mother’s nipple. The Perfe-latch® nipple has a tip with multiple differently sized orifices which dispense different amounts with different suction strengths in order to help minimize nipple confusion.

Bare
features an Air-plug®, acting like the syringe’s plunger. When baby applies
suction, the Air-plug® moves to keep an air-free environment. BARE®
works with suction as opposed to gravity, therefore baby can feed in any position,
including upright.
The upright feeding position is recommended by Pediatricians to:
1.
Help prevent gas, colic, fuss and spit ups;
2.
Calm acid Reflux/GERDS symptoms;
3.
Help prevent ear infections;
4.
Proper posture for the baby, which allows for better digestion;
5.
Development of early self-feeding skills; and
6.
Easier weaning later on and/or the transition to straws and open cups.

In the event of a crash...Important car seat information
I spotted a Facebook post which I thought was very important to pass on to parents. Lauren Becker an Emergency Service Volunteer has graciously allowed me to quote her on such an important safety topic. One that I had never thought to do. Thank you Lauren.
"I work in emergency services both at volunteer firehouse and in EMS and this is very important, I post it every few months to remind people to both do it and update it.
Too frequently firefighters come upon a car wreck where the mom is unconscious and there are children in the car who are too young to speak or communicate anything useful to the rescue team.
ADVICE: Place a sticker on each child'...s car seat providing information that can help rescuers.
Include: child's name & DOB, parent's names, DOB & phone, emergency contact info, child's doctor, any medical issues and any medications.
Please update this information as needed as well."

Best Books to read during Pregnancy
I was 31 and pregnant. Now what?
I knew nothing about babies! I had changed a diaper once on a 2 year old and had to do it while holding my breath, by the time I was done there were tears streaming down my face, the gagging reflex in full mode and one quite little boy with a "crazy lady alert" look on his face. I think I was 30 at the time.
So I hit the book store and came out with What to expect when you're Expecting. It was a God send. It took me month by month of what to expect and also covered a little of what to expect with my body after delivery.
As I got further into my pregnancy, I had a few moments of panic as to what to DO with the baby after he was born. I found What to expect the First Year. It was a wealth of information from what baby would do month to month, things to look for in milestones, information what to expect when baby is sick, what foods to feed and so much more.
I also loved the books written by Gary Ezzo. His Babywise books taught me about schedule feeding vs demand feeding. I had Post Partum Depression, so scheduling helped me differentiate my baby's crying, making things a little less stressful while my meds kicked in to stabilize my panic attacks.
Lastly, don't forget to get one for the dad to be. A good one is The Expectant Father.
Books are a wonderful resource, but once your baby comes your instinct will take over as well. You will do just fine! Take a breath and enjoy your pregnancy. Your baby will be here in a blink.
Do you have any books that you would recommend to other parents-to-be?
Written By Sandra Frawley, Mom & Inventor of the award winning SeatPak.
"The SeatPak was inspired by the birth of my daughter. My trips to the store were a circus act of juggling the car seat, diaper bag and coat. I needed something that would attach to the handle of the car seat with the essentials for those trips when my larger diaper bag was impractical."
The SeatPak holds All essentials, plus Mom& Dad's stuff too! Lightweight and Compact it is easy to install. Our universal fit can be used with any car seat or stroller.

Bobee Inventor & Mompreneur of the Week - Stacy Harfert
You’ll change over 2,000 diapers in the first year! Save Time
with Bobee Diaper & Wipe Dispenser
Stacy Harfert set out to find a solution. She was pretty
handy with a tool belt and used her knowledge to experiment with all sorts of
materials from plexi-glass to cardboard. Eventually, she ended up creating a
wall-mounted unit to hold not just the diapers but the wipes too. It struck her
as the best solution to less stress. It made it easy to find them, easy to
access them and it freed up the changing table space for the rest of her
supplies. A friend noticed how much easier it made changing for her and
how quickly she seemed to be able to do it and said she would love to have one
too. The idea spread with her Mommy friends and before she knew it she had
created a supply and demand problem without ever starting a business.
Not only a fantastic time-saving, organizing invention,
but also a mom-invented product.
What is so neat about this modern diaper stacker, is it comes white so
you decorate it to match your nursery. There are five colorful decals
that come with it so you can mix and match to your nursery room colors.
If you’re planning your nursery for the first time or looking for the
perfect baby shower gift, the Bobee Diaper & Wipe Dispenser is a great
choice.
Stacy invented the Bobee diaper & wipe dispenser when
her son was 18 months old and the second was due any day. She worked out the
product details with two little ones in diapers and actually using the product!
Award winning and patent pending, Bobee is going strong and the product line
has just expanded to include additional color decal options to better color
coordinate with baby’s trendy nursery.

Seal of Approval from the Family Review Center
We have received another award! A Seal of Approval from the Family Review Center!
The convenience factor alone makes this one a no brainer for the mom on the go! With the SeatPak you no longer have to carry a big cumbersome, heavy diaper bag everywhere you go, along with baby in the carseat or stroller. Now you have a bag you can quickly and easily attach to any stroller or carseat (or shopping cart) and you are off and running. At times you need a full size diaper bag and there is no getting around it, but other times you don't. The SeatPak holds a lot and also has several compartments to easily organize and separate everything so your downtown adventures are a breeze. The SeatPak was invented by a mom who was tired of always have a big bulky bag to carry and she has done all mothers a service by taking her idea to the marketplace. This is a true godsend and is available at a very affordable price point. They are available at stores as well as online at the Baby Bindle website. You can choose from black or brown. You may want to pick up a couple, so you can have one for baby's items and one for your own or for an older child, if out for a walk or adventure with the stroller. Hook one up to each side and you are set. You will love this one, you can count on it!" - Family Review Center

Featured Friday MomPreneur - Stella Rubinshteyn
Surround
Your Baby in a Cloud of Comfort
Stella Rubinshteyn is
a mom to 3 amazing boys, and the original inventor of the world’s most
luxurious stroller seat liner!
Originally from Europe, Stella discovered that in comparison
to the European countries, where it’s a common practice to place children
inside a stroller lined with a cotton blanket or better yet a buggy liner,
American parents place their children on bare stroller upholstery without any
lining protection at all. Typical
stroller upholstery is not removable or machine washable, and may feel rough on
baby’s delicate skin. Considering
that children spend so much time in their strollers, it seems logical that they
should get proper physical support and the seat should be comfortable, soft and
clean: Let’s face it, we’d never consider sleeping on a bare mattress
ourselves!
The only stroller liner Stella could find for her son was a
traditional white carriage liner with ruffles, something that just would not
cut it for her boys. After realizing there was a gap in the market for stylish
stroller liners in fun, modern designs and prints, that can coordinate well
with any popular stroller brand, Tivoli Couture created its first line of
comfortable Luxury Plush stroller liners that would also be reversible for
versatility and year round comfort. Soon
after, while enjoying her brand new memory foam mattress topper and pillow at
home, it occurred to Stella that memory foam would make the perfect padding for
a deliciously comfortable stroller liner – prompting a second generation of
Luxury NuComfort™ memory foam stroller liners to be born.

Featured Friday MomPreneur: Betsy Johnson
Mom Creates Stylish and
Award-Winning Baby Must Have Sun Protective Swimwear
Featured Friday Mom’Preneur: Betsy Johnson
Skin
Cancer survivor. Daughter. Sister. Aunt. Wife. Mom. Friend. Designer. Creator.
Mompreneur. These are all words that can explain a little of Betsy’s
life.
Betsy’s skin cancer
diagnosis hit her like a ton of bricks.
I was just 26 years old and living a very healthy life. Cancer at that point was absolutely
unimaginable. And, yet, it was all to
true. I cried and cried and cried. Kleenex made a small fortune off me during
that time!
You can see Betsy
here talk about her the new 2013 SwimZip Line:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtDd8IE1wNU
But
the truth was, while all Betsy had to show from the cancer was a large scar on
her back, she was not the same woman that she was before the cancer. The corporate world had lost its luster and
she realized that she actually been presented with was an opportunity to do
something meaningful with my life. She enjoyed working in the corporate
world, but here was a chance to help others avoid her fate – and maybe even
save lives. With the conviction that comes from knowing without a doubt
that you are doing something right, she dove headfirst into the world of UPF
sun protective clothing … and thus was born SwimZip. http://www.SwimZip.com
Parents love SwimZip and even celebrity parents too. SwimZip, like all of the SwimZips today, are
chlorine-resistant swim shirt with UV 50+ protection and a full-length zipper
that made taking it on and off easy for all involved. The zippers have a protective flap so as not
to catch the skin and the seams are flat-stitched so there is no chaffing.
Betsy’s passion is to keep kids sun safe and adults now too. SwimZip will be creating into adult sizes this summer. Parents lead by example, so parents zipping on their UV 50+ sun protective swimwear is key – and SwimZip will have stylish adult size SwimZips that can be worn all summer long and even while walking in the sun!
